OUR MISSION
At the heart of PRESENCE lies the pursuit of hyper-realistic XR experiences, where users feel fully immersed in virtual environments through realistic visual, tactile, and social interactions. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary research, PRESENCE addresses three primary challenges, embodied in its three core pillars:
High-End Holoportation: PRESENCE focuses on developing advanced holoportation techniques, enabling realistic visual interactions among remote humans through live volumetric capturing, compression, and optimization.
Novel Haptic Systems: The project aims to provide realistic touch sensations among remote users and synthetic objects by developing innovative haptic systems and enabling spatial multi-device synchronization in multi-user scenarios.
AI Virtual Humans: PRESENCE will create realistic social interactions among avatars and agents by generating AI virtual humans capable of representing actual users or AI agents.
By tackling these challenges, PRESENCE seeks to elevate the quality of XR experiences and bring users closer to the longstanding dream of immersive virtual presence. Through a comprehensive evaluation method encompassing independent technology assessments, integration team feedback, and user experience evaluations in two demonstrator setups (professional and social), PRESENCE ensures the future uptake of its research results.
