On February 8th and 9th, the inaugural meeting of PRESENCE took place in Thessaloniki, bringing together a consortium of 20 partners from across Europe. This event marked the beginning of a collaborative journey aimed at revolutionizing human interactions in virtual environments. During this pivotal gathering, partners engaged in substantive discussions, sharing knowledge and aligning on common tasks and goals.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as attendees had the unique opportunity to experience prototype solutions firsthand, including innovative haptic gloves, haptic vests, and VR helmets. These hands-on demonstrations allowed participants to envision the future of these technologies within the project, sparking creativity and anticipation for what lies ahead.
Requirements and equipment needs were also key topics of discussion, with partners collaborating to ensure that all use cases were accommodated effectively. The consortium delved into detailed planning, addressing how to seamlessly integrate and optimize technologies across diverse scenarios.
The exploitation aspect of the project was not overlooked, as groups conducted strategic sessions to define persona canvases and identify motivations and opportunities for our technological solutions. This forward-thinking approach ensures that our innovations align with real-world needs and market demands.
A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the project’s use cases, each representing a unique application of PRESENCE technology: Health, Professional Collaboration, Manufacturing Training, and Cultural Heritage. The consortium engaged in group work to further refine each use case, outlining timelines, potential outcomes, barriers, and the technologies required for success.
